From 29 August until 2 September, Anna Engel-Köhler and Hubert Schurkus visited the sites of the German-Tunisian Crafts School project (DTHWS), Tunisian Automotive Association (TAMA) and Start-Tronic (automobile-mechatronics Sfax) in Tunisia, together with Laurine Ardjelan, coordinator bbw international Würzburg.
On the first day, the bbw delegation visited the DTHWS professional school in Gabès and inspected the recently built working platform, which was funded by BMZ throughout the project. Additionally, Mrs Engel-Köhler and Mr Schurkus had a talk with the apprentices. Subsequently, the delegation visited the professional school of Bach Hamba in Sfax, where the local long-term expert of bbw presented the new project Start-Tronic for automobile mechatronics together with several project partners. The next day, the participants exchanged about the continuation of the project TAMA with the corporation Dräxlmaier in Sousse.
Since the beginning of the first bbw-projects in Tunisia, Dräxlmaier is an important partner who – among others – is participating in the TAMA project and is successfully executing a dualistic vocational training model. The close of the journey was an exchange of Mrs. Engel-Köhler and Mr. Schurkus with local colleagues in the bbw project office in Tunis on 1 September. Mrs. Engel Köhler signed a new cooperation agreement for the new automobile mechatronics project in Sfax as well as the extension of the cooperation agreement on the DTHWS project together with the Tunisian Minister of Employment and Vocational Education, Mr. Nasreddine Nsibi and Mr. Samit Majoul, President of the Employers Association UTICA.
