Education and energy for a world with a future

Training of trainers for vocational school teachers from African countries: In June 2019, 16 vocational school teachers from Ethiopia, Cameroon, Uganda and Zambia learned the basics of electrical and energy engineering in close cooperation with the "Wildpoldsried Energy Village".

They trained the practical construction of a solar function case, which is to serve as a small mobile laboratory and illustrative object for further training in their own country. In addition to theory and practice in the field of photovoltaics and didactic mediation, two innovative solar companies were visited in Memmingen, Phaesun and Steca, which are also active in Africa. In addition, the expedition team of the catamaran "Energy Observer" visited the group in Wildpoldsried and presented the world's first hydrogen-powered ship powered only by wind, sun and water. A cooking and music evening, a tombola and a round trip through the Allgäu on the weekend rounded off the tour.

The course participants were supported by Bavarian vocational school teachers as mentors. In August, they travelled to Kenya, Zambia and Rwanda to see for themselves the great sustainability and enthusiasm of the trained teachers.

This is already the fourth event of its kind since 2018, which the International Division of bfz has successfully coordinated. Another seminar is planned for October.
