Volker Falch, head of International, was part of a delegation trip with the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs to the two East African States. The objective was to explore development and market opportunities for the bbw group.
When meeting with the German ambassadors, the President of the Tanzanian Employers Federation and the President of the Kenian investment Foundation, the topic of vocational education and training took centre stage.
The main aim was to create training structures according to legally binding standards – on the one hand, to attract German companies, and on the other to support the development of local businesses because only if there are enough qualified workers, can the economy flourish in the long term.
Both in Kenya and Tanzania, national development objectives have been defined: Corruption is to be reduced, and vocational training and infrastructure is to be improved.
The delegation visited various educational institutions and companies. Initial projects were envisaged and contacts were forged with potential local partners.
