For two years now, the international division of bbw gGmbH has been helping to attract workers from Kenya to the town of Gersthofen in order to meet the shortage of skilled labour in the region.
"We consider ourselves as a one-stop agency for interested employers," explains Volker Falch, Head of the International Division. Experts at bbw organise all the bureaucratic processes involved in the placement of foreign trainees and skilled workers in Germany.
The aim is to recruit skilled workers for different areas. - These include nursing, hotel and restaurant business, childcare as well as swimming pool attendants and electrical engineering.
Another example of the success of international cooperation can be seen in the Immenstadt district: two Kenyan citizens have been completing nursing training at the bfz nursing school here since 2024. Silke Schreiter-Taubenheim, Product Manager at the bfz schools, explains what is important here: "The young people need to be supported and accompanied during their training, starting, for example, with preparatory courses for life in Germany and following up with picking up the new trainees at the airport in Munich."
The approach is convincing: authorities of the district of Augsburg are discussing whether the project can be applied to their region as well.
The success of the partnership was reported by Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper.
