Summary and Outlook of the project "GLOBALES LERNEN FAIRbindet" (global and fair education connects)

From October 6 to October 7, the final conference of the project „GLOBALES LERNEN FAIRbindet“ (2018-2021) (global and fair education connects) took place at the Blumenthal castle in Aichach. The project has been supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Within the conference, employees changed notes with managers of the bbw group about their experiences with global learning. The results of the project’s evaluation were the basis for further ideas and concepts for another project concerning global learning from 2022 until 2025.

Between July 2018 and September 2021, over 300 employees of the bbw group have been educated in concerns of methods and topics about global learning. What was special about the course of the project was that from the middle of 2020 on, the majority of seminars was held online. With the help of the project called „change of perspective – escape and prejudices“, over 240 young people were able to get an insight into problematical political situations like for example the reasons for escape. Within this context, the participants were dealing with prejudices against refugees.

Okba Kerdiea shared the story of his own escape. This was a very important part for most of the participant from vocational preparation courses in order to authentically face their own position towards the unknown. The exchange between participants of vocational preparation courses in Germany and young people from the projects of bbw international from countries of the global south are planned to be intensified during one of the future projects. Topics like sustainability shall be discussed with the help of digital competencies and tools in order to develop courses of action.
