India: Training of master trainers

The bfz is retraining vocational trainers for welding and in mechatronics/CNC in four Indian training centres.

The Berufliche Fortbildungszentren der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (bfz) is retraining trainers for mechatronics/CNC and for welding in Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. These trainers currently undergoing training will serve as multipliers who can pass on their newly acquired knowledge to other local trainers directly.

India’s booming industry is hardly able to cover the increasing need for well qualified experts and technicians with its traditional state training institutions (ITIs). In response to this, select teachers are to be retrained in the training centres for trainers (ATIs), who can then pass on their qualified skills to further Indian trainers in India. 

In a first step, 20 select Indian trainers are trained at the bfz sites Kronach and Aschaffenburg. As an integral aspect of this, they not only visit local companies and their teaching workshops but also learn modern teaching methods such as activity-oriented lessons. Experts from the bfz are also supporting the development of modern syllabuses for the relevant training requirements in India.

In further steps, the Indians attending train-the-trainer courses will repeat this training under the instruction of bfz trainers in India. They will also receive support to establish a local network with industry, this reinforcing practical grounding for the training at the ITIs.

The cooperation has been initiated by the Indian government with support from iMove. The former is financing the project set to run for three years in total.
